1) Why do Christians not believe that Muhammad is a prophet? Signs and symptoms of Muhammadan revelation compared to the Jewish prophets in the Torah
Muhammad was suffering from psychological and nervous symptoms, convulsions and epilepsy before those around him (his wife Khadija and the priest Waraqa bin Nawfal, the Nasarene bishop of Mecca) made him believe that these symptoms meant that he was a revelation from God and that he was the prophet of the nation.
What kind of revelation is this that made Muhammad lose his consciousness, as the Qur’an, the hadiths, and the biography of the Prophet mention that when revelation came to Muhammad, strange symptoms would overtake him, such that he would faint, and sometimes he would look like a drunkard, or he would snore like a camel, and his eyes would turn red, and he would be overcome by trembling and other symptoms, such that he would sweat profusely, suffer from headaches, and feel a ringing in his ears and a buzzing in his brain?
Symptoms of the Quranic Revelation to Muhammad, the Messenger of Islam Muslim scholars have unanimously agreed that he was afflicted while in Mecca before the Quran was revealed to him with the same symptoms that afflicted him when the revelation was revealed to him (i.e. fainting)… And Muhammad was afflicted with these same symptoms before he claimed to receive revelation. Ibn Ishaq narrated: “Muhammad was treated with ruqyah for the evil eye while he was in Mecca before the Quran was revealed to him. When the Quran was revealed to him, he was afflicted with the same symptoms that had afflicted him before that. Before the Quran was revealed, he was afflicted with something resembling fainting after trembling, closing his eyes, and foaming at the mouth (i.e. changing his face). He snored like a newborn baby. Khadija said to him: Shall I send someone to treat you? He said: Not now. Muslim scholars have confirmed that Amina, Muhammad’s mother, treated him with ruqyah for the evil eye. It was said that when she was pregnant with him, the angel came to her and said: Say when you give birth to him, ‘I seek refuge in the One from the evil of every envier.’” * See the book “Insan Al-Uyun fi Sirat Al-Amin Al-Ma’mun” known as Al-Seerah Al-Halabiyah - by Ali bin Burhan Al-Din Al-Halabi - Vol. 1, p. 407.
Is Gabriel who came to Muhammad the same Gabriel who gave the good news to Mary in the Gospel?
Muhammad felt as if the devil had possessed him: In order to understand his expression “I feared for myself,” we read what is stated in the book “Insan al-Uyun fi Sirat al-Amin al-Ma’mun,” known as the Al-Sirah al-Halabiyah, by Ali ibn Burhan al-Din al-Halabi, Vol. 1, p. 337: “The Messenger of God said to Khadija: I fear that the one calling me is a follower of the jinn... and I fear that I have madness,” meaning the possession of the jinn.
Muslims say that Gabriel is the revelation of Muhammad and that he is an angel whose name Gabriel is mentioned in the Torah and the Bible, which never mentioned symptoms like the symptoms that afflicted Muhammad when he was with Gabriel, which afflicted another prophet, which proves that Muhammad saw an evil spiritual being or a devil who was tormenting him.
31 وها انت ستحبلين وتلدين ابنا وتسمينه يسوع " The proof and certain evidence for this is that when the angel Gabriel was giving Mary the good news, he gave her peace and reassured her and told her not to be afraid, and she did not suffer from nervous convulsions or other things that happened to Muhammad. This is mentioned in the Gospel (Luke 1:26-31) 26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women.” 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his words and pondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you are to call his name Jesus.”
From the Qur’an, the hadiths and the biography of the Prophet, we can easily learn about the personality of Muhammad, his characteristics, customs, morals and life in general and his alleged prophethood in particular, in comparison with the kings, prophets and judges of the Jews, such as King and Prophet Solomon, David, Moses and the prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel and others... etc. We read about their lives and works in the books of the Old Testament of the Bible. We also learn about Jesus Christ from an original source, which is the Gospels written by his disciples, which do not resemble the characteristics of Muhammad’s revelation mentioned in the Qur’an, the hadiths and the biography of the Prophet Muhammad.
The symptoms of Muhammad's prophecy are not similar to the prophecy of the prophets. Muslims say that there was a revelation that came down to Muhammad and that it was written in the Qur'an and the hadiths that were collected 200 years after Muhammad's death in the era of the Abbasid Caliphs. If you, the reader, search, study and compare the Qur'anic verses, the reasons for their revelation and the Qur'anic interpretations, it will become clear to you that the strange pathological symptoms that afflicted Muhammad from time to time and which his relatives claimed were revelation did not come to any of the previous prophets and that Muhammad's prophecy is either false or satanic or merely deception and that what afflicted him are psychological and nervous conditions. These are neurological pathological conditions that are studied in modern medicine and have nothing to do with the revelation of the Holy Spirit. We did not read in the books of the Old or New Testaments, neither in the Torah nor the Gospels, about strange psychological (pathological) conditions in the lives of these prophets when they were writing what was revealed to them by the Holy Spirit.
Comparing the revelation of Muhammad to the possessed by demons in the Bible. In the New Testament of the Bible, we read of cases of those possessed by evil spirits, epileptics and madmen being healed by the Lord Jesus Christ. These cases are completely similar to the cases that Muhammad suffered during and before his claim to prophethood, as Muhammad and the Muslims claim, that "revelation" was coming down to him. While the opponents of the Prophet Muhammad from the people of Quraysh and those close to him and the Jews saw what was afflicting Muhammad as nothing but madness, magic and dealing with demons and jinn,
Symptoms of Muhammadan revelation in Quranic texts that no prophet has ever been afflicted with before
Below are the Qur’anic texts in which Muhammad responded to the accusations against him. (Muhammad’s opponents) called him “a soothsayer” and that the Qur’an was revealed by the devils, meaning that the devils cast spells on the priests (Muhammad is like them because he joined his wife Khadija’s Christianity and the priest Waraqa the Nasarene) so they practiced magic and summoned the jinn and unclean spirits (see Surah Ash-Shu’ara’ 11), and they called Muhammad a magician or a madman (see Surah Az-Zariyat 52) and they called Muhammad a liar (see Surah Saba’ 43) and they accused him of being a poet (see Surah Ash-Shura 24) and telling people the legends of the ancients (see Surah An-Nahl 24), and people mocked him (see Surah As-Saffat 12-17), and he had a companion from the devils (see Surah Fussilat 129) and they accused him of being a slanderer (see Surah Taha 4-8), and Muhammad himself admitted that he was the messenger of the jinn (see Surah Al-Jinn and how the jinn Believe in Muhammad) and the jinn in Christianity are a group of demons
Symptoms of Muhammadan revelation in the hadiths that no prophet has ever been afflicted with before
The revelation came to Muhammad like the ringing of a bell.
1. The companions of Muhammad used to hear a sound like the buzzing of bees at his face. On the authority of Omar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, who said: “When revelation was sent down to the Prophet, a sound like the buzzing of bees was heard at his face.” [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3173)].
His forehead would be dripping with sweat even on a very cold day. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “I saw him when the revelation came down to him on a very cold day, and then it would stop and his forehead would be dripping with sweat.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari (2) and Muslim (2333).) Its wording is: “Then his forehead would be dripping with sweat.” (Yafsam) means to stop. (Yatafsad) means to flow.
That Muhammad was so heavy that the camel he was riding would almost kneel, and even Zaid bin Thabit feared that his thigh would be crushed, although his thigh, may Allah be pleased with him, was under the thigh of the Prophet.
4. And he was afflicted with hardship. On the authority of Aisha - in the hadith of innocence from slander - she said: By God, the Messenger of God did not seek his seat nor did anyone from the people of the house leave until God Almighty revealed to His Prophet, and he was seized with what he used to be seized with from the slap at the time of revelation. [Narrated by Muslim (2770)]
5. His face would change color, turning red and then pale. On the authority of Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: “Whenever revelation was sent down to the Prophet of Allah, he would be distressed by that and his face would turn dark.” [Narrated by Muslim (2334)].
6. He would lower his head and cover it with a garment. On the authority of Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: “When the revelation was sent down to the Prophet, he would lower his head and his companions would lower their heads. When it was recited to him, he would raise his head.” [Narrated by Muslim (2335)].
7. He was moving his tongue quickly and forcefully to memorize from Gabriel until God forbade him from doing so and reassured him that He would collect the Qur’an for him in his chest. On the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, regarding the words of God Almighty: {And do not move your tongue with it, to hasten it}, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was dealing with the revelation with great difficulty, and he used to move his lips with it, so God Almighty revealed: {And do not move your tongue with it, to hasten it. Indeed, upon Us is its collection and its recitation}, he said: Its collection for you in your chest and your recitation of it. Then when We have recited it, follow its recitation. He said: Then listen to it and be silent. Then it is upon Us to explain it. Then it is upon Us that you recite it. So after that, whenever Gabriel came to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), he would listen. Then when Gabriel departed, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would recite it as he had recited it. [Narrated by Al-Bukhari (5) and Muslim (448)]
8. He was heard snoring like the snoring of a young camel. On the authority of Ya`la ibn Umayyah, may God be pleased with him, who said: “I wish I had seen the Messenger of God when the revelation had been sent down to him. So Umar said: Come, would you like to see the Prophet when God has sent down the revelation to him? I said: Yes. So he lifted the edge of the garment, and I looked at him and he was snoring, and I think he said: Like the snoring of a young camel.” [Narrated by Al-Bukhari (1789) and Muslim (1180)].
9- - He appeared as a drunkard: It was mentioned in the authentic hadiths that when the revelation came down to him, he would faint due to a severe change from his usual state until his appearance became like that of a drunkard. Muslim scholars said that he was taken from the world. Asma bint Umays said: “When the revelation came down to the Messenger of Allah, he would almost faint. And he would appear like a drunkard.” * See the book “Insan al-Uyun fi Sirat al-Amin al-Ma’mun” known as the “Al-Seerah al-Halabiyah” by Ali bin Burhan al-Din al-Halabi - Vol. 1, p. 257.
His soul would contract from him: - “The Messenger of God said: There is no time revelation comes to me except that I think that my soul is contracted from me.” * See the book “Insan Al-Uyun fi Sirat Al-Amin Al-Ma’mun” known as Al-Sirah Al-Halabiya - by Ali bin Burhan Al-Din Al-Halabi - Vol. 1, p. 257.
11 - When revelation came to Muhammad, he would hear voices beside him:
12 - When the revelation came to Muhammad, he was struck with trembling and shaking:
13 - When the revelation came to Muhammad, he would suffer from a headache:
